Safe plants for Leopard Geckos

Last edited: 13 December,2024

I love bioactive enclosures for leopard geckos because it creates a little ecosystem inside the enclosure. For this, you need to add some live and safe plants to your Leo’s enclosure. It also gives them a natural environment and encourages natural behavior. It’s easy to maintain—you just need to add some cleaning crew to the tank. Additionally, it’s very satisfying to see plants growing inside the tank while your Leos enjoy the environment. It also means less cleaning.

Aloe

Aloe is a very popular and attractive plant, and it is also easy to maintain, even if you plant it in your reptile tank. It comes in different colors and shapes with over 500 species. Small and colorful aloes, like golden tooth aloe and short-leaf aloe, look attractive in your reptile habitat.

Easter Cactus

Easter cacti are great for caring for in your reptile enclosure. You don’t need to water it every day; water it only when the surface of the soil looks dry. It can grow in indirect sunlight. When it blooms, its pinkish flowers make the enclosure look very attractive. It blooms between March and May. You can also add a Christmas cactus, which blooms in December.

Spider plant

The spider plant has a beautiful “spider” look and is a common houseplant for beginners, so you can easily plant it in your reptile tank without requiring much maintenance. As well as being beneficial for leopard geckos, it is also good for humans because it is known as an air purifier. It helps remove certain toxins from the air, including benzene and xylene, so it is definitely safe for your reptiles.

Air Plant

This plant helps decorate your tank in various ways, as it doesn’t need soil to grow. It also needs indirect sunlight to thrive in your reptile tank, but you must monitor the humidity to prevent it from drying out. You can display this plant in very creative ways, but be mindful of the humidity.

Snake plant

Snake plants are very popular for growing in low light and are easy to maintain. You should water it deeply but only when the surface is dry. Do not give this plant direct sunlight.Their broad leaves soak up toxins and carbon dioxide and produce oxygen to help purify the air in the room.

Jade plant

Jade plants are very hardy; even if you don’t water them for 3 weeks, they can survive easily. But it depends on factors like temperature and humidity. Their leaves are rich green, and they have small pink flowers that look great.
